Linckia's digital expertise originated in Temple which is one of the UK's leading Eco-consulting firms established in 1997.

 

In April 2025, the product focused part of the digital team of Temple and related intellectual property was divested into Linckia.

Biodiversity Net Gain

In 2023 Natural England mandated Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) as law in England. For the first time in England, biodiversity measurement has a value and statutory representation in the planning process.

 

Linckia has been at the forefront of solutions for BNG. This has been achieved through its partnerships, expertise and innovative mindset. 

 

Our partnerships with ESRI, UKHab and OS bring an authoritative, scalable and user friendly, geospatially driven workflow to provide the best solution.​

Through our partnership with OS, Linckia can provide a robust and defensible approach for pre-mapping and baselining using Ordnance Surveys' Enhanced Land Cover data set for a rapid and cost effective approach. We refine this data specifically for BNG and bring it seamlessly into our app workflow for editing and BNG calculations.

 To celebrate the launch of our new Habitat Fabric data product, this October (2025) for every new BNG app purchase, we are giving away 200 ha (one site only) of our Habitat Fabric, specially designed and refined for BNG pre-mapping. It is mapped to UKHab level 4, includes canopy extents, is a part of the OS NGD base and is based on Ordnance Survey's ELC data.

Assertion

Linckia's Consents Register

Linckia has a digital toolset which includes setting and managing consents strategies for clients, managing and obtaining consents and liaising with Consent Granting Bodies.

Often the projects that require consents involve complex planning and legal requirements which have numerous conditions that need to be discharged.

It is illegal to start work without the appropriate Consents in place. Failure to identify and obtain the necessary Consents needed to carry out work can lead to programme delays, increased costs, reputational damage and significant fines .

Assertion provides an efficient and robust approach to consents management with spatial representation and hard coded rules allowing for automation for the phases of consents. Our Assertion tool can have an immediate ROI for the consents phase of projects and can be easily modified for unique DCO requirements.

Co-Founder

Luke is a career technologist, and builder and leader of product teams. He has expertise spanning geospatial, AdTech, cybersecurity and blockchain. Luke began his career as an environmentalist and when not working, is likely to be in the north downs or kayaking in the English channel

Lizzy is a developer with skills across programming and GIS technologies, with interests in environmental and social applications. She has a Masters in Applied GIS and Remote Sensing from the University of Southampton. In her spare time, she likes to crochet
